Today we rode Elfin Forest/Double Peak. It was fairly cold morning, we met at RB/Pomerado with a very large group of about 17 riders, including Hermann, as well as Stephane and Don (?). We met up with Eileen, Jeff and their friend Hector at the Harmony Grove so total tally was 20 riders today – a lot more than last week’s count of 6!Four of us (Larry, I, Sheehan and Rob) bravely opted for Questhaven instead of Elfin Forest. With little regrouping, we somehow got to San Elijo ahead of the main group – that’s a first. Nice views from Double Peak, as always – and a lot of hikers, must be New Year’s resolution thing.
Most of us decided to go back via steep descent down to Lake San Marcos. From there we did Camino del Norte to reverse Stud loop, three witches, and the group started splintering with everyone going in different direction. Ernst and Claus accompanied me and Larry to the coast and then came back via 56 bike path.
Rides ranged from 55 to 100 miles, fantastic day to be out riding.
